Switching guide
Mealime is shutting down. Your recipes should not go with it.
Mealime has told its users the app "will be discontinued as of October 21, 2026" and that "all personal data will be deleted when the Mealime application is shut down." The suggested next step is Meals Hub, inside Albertsons Companies' grocery apps. If you would rather keep your recipes somewhere no company can switch off, here is what the notice actually says and how to move before the date.
Trivet is free on the App Store: import any recipe, scale it, and plan the week on your iPhone and iPad.
Download on theApp StoreWhat the closing notice says, in its own words
- The date. "Mealime will be discontinued as of October 21, 2026."
- Your data. "All personal data will be deleted when the Mealime application is shut down."
- The recipes. "All Mealime recipes will continue to be available on Meals Hub, along with thousands of additional recipes."
- The path forward. "You can create or sign in to your Albertsons Cos. store app to access Meals Hub features. Certain preferences and settings will need to be established directly within Meals Hub."
- Export. The notice does not mention any way to export or download your plans, favorites or history.

Before October 21: save what you want to keep
Mealime's recipes came from its own catalog, so most of what you would lose is the list of ones you cooked and liked. Two ways to keep them, and both work with any recipe app, not just this one.
- Open each favorite in Mealime and use Share to send yourself the recipe as text, or screenshot the ingredients and steps. A screenshot is enough: Trivet reads recipes off photos, and the first three scans are free.
- If the recipe came from a website originally, save the link. A link imports cleanly the first time, and it keeps the source.
- Do this before the date. Once the app is off, the notice says the data is gone.
What is different about Trivet
Your recipes, from anywhere
Mealime planned from its catalog. Trivet plans from recipes you save: paste a link from any site, a saved TikTok or Reel, a PDF, or a photo of a handwritten card.
Nothing to switch off
There is no account and no server of ours holding your library. Recipes live on your devices and, if you sync, in your own iCloud, and the whole collection exports to a plain file you keep, free, any time.
A planner and a grocery list, still
Drop recipes onto the week and build the grocery list in one tap. The free tier plans seven meals at a time; Premium removes the limit and sorts the list in the order you walk the store.
A price you can stop paying
Free to start. $19.99 a year, or $39.99 once for everything, forever, shared with your family.
Where Meals Hub is the better fit
Be honest with yourself about what you used Mealime for. If it was the generated plans and a catalog that chose recipes for you, Meals Hub carries that forward, and it is free with a store account. Trivet does not generate meal plans and has no catalog; it is for people who want their own recipes, planned their own way, and kept for good.
Questions
When does Mealime shut down?+
Mealime says the app "will be discontinued as of October 21, 2026." After that date the app and its accounts stop working.
Will my Mealime recipes and meal plans be deleted?+
Mealime’s closing notice says "All personal data will be deleted when the Mealime application is shut down." It says the recipes themselves will continue to be available on Meals Hub, along with thousands more, but it does not describe any way to export or download your own plans or favorites.
What is Meals Hub?+
It is the recipe and meal-planning feature inside Albertsons Companies’ grocery apps (Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, Jewel-Osco and others). Mealime says you can create or sign in to an Albertsons store app to use it, and that some preferences will need to be set up again there. It works whether or not there is a store near you.
Is Trivet a free Mealime replacement?+
The parts most people used Mealime for are free in Trivet: unlimited recipes, web import, serving scaling, cooking mode, a grocery list, and seven planned meals at a time. Premium removes the planner limit, sorts the grocery list by aisle, and adds photo, PDF and video import, for $19.99 a year or $39.99 once.
Does Trivet generate meal plans for me like Mealime did?+
No. Mealime picked recipes for you from its own catalog. Trivet plans the week from recipes you save, from any website, video or photo. If you want a curated catalog and generated plans, Meals Hub is the closer match. If you want your own recipes, planned your way, and never rented, Trivet is.
Can I get my recipes out of Trivet later?+
Any time, for free, in a plain file you keep. That is the whole point: a recipe collection lasts decades, and it should never depend on a company staying in business.
